TALCOTT —
Richard M. Talbott, 69, of Talcott, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Phillips Care Home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born October 3, 1943 at Newport News, Virginia, he was a son of the late Caleb P. and Marion Perdue Talbott.
After graduating in 1961 from Talcott High School he served in the U.S. Army, was a Vietnam Veteran, and also served in the Army National Guard. He was a former CO-owner and operator of Skater’s Haven in Hinton, a former member of the Greenbrier Valley Rural Fire Department at Talcott, a member of the Hinton Masonic Lodge No. 62 AF and AM, a member of the Alderson Eastern Star No. 119 and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church at Talcott. Richard was a retired engineering technician in bridge and road construction after completing 37 years of service with the W.Va. Department of Transportation and was most recently employed by Greenhorn & O’Mara Consulting Firm as an engineering technician. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors; woodworking, baking, and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by two infant siblings and one brother, Thomas W. Talbott.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years, Sandra Kay Talbott at home; two daughters, Michelle Wall and husband J.W. of Talcott and Cyndi Ward and husband Scott of Barger Springs; one sister, Sharon Lilly and husband Larry of Talcott; four grandchildren, Kimberly Cales, Cassidy, Skyler, and Alex Ward; three great-grandchildren, Rachel, Lilli and Levi Cales; a sister-in-law, Patricia Talbott; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today (Friday), November 23, 2012 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Sam Groves and Bob Talbott officiating. Burial will follow in the Talcott Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral parlors from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
