ROCK —
Beulah Dean Slemp, 77, of Pocosin Fork Road, Rock, died Sunday, October 7, 2012. Born October 17, 1934 at Weyanoke, she was the daughter of the late James Odie East and Ruby Moore East.
Mrs. Slemp was of the Primitive Baptist faith. She was a homemaker and loved to work outside. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and always had a kind word for people. She made crafts and ceramics and enjoyed Bible study classes.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Jerry Slemp of the home; one son, Michael East and his wife Kathie of Lenoir, N.C.; one granddaughter, Jennifer East of Lenoir, N.C.; two brothers, James “Buddy” East and his wife Gail of Madison, Ohio and Curtis East and his wife Emma Jo of Lenoir, N.C.; two aunts, Macie Umberger and Sarah Winfrey both of Princeton; special nephew, Keith Vest of Lashmeet and several other nieces and nephews; and special friend, Joy Hurst of Matoaka.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Elder Joe Blevins and Elder Keith Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.bailey-kirk.com
