BASTIAN, Va. —
Nellie Mae Kidd, age 89, of Bastian, Va., died Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Va. Born November 19, 1922 in Tazewell, Va., she was a daughter of the late Rufus and Mindy Dickens Dalton.
She was a member of the Grapefield Church of God. Mrs. Kidd was an avid reader and also enjoyed writing poetry. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Luther Kidd; one daughter, Nancy Kidd; three sisters, Gertie Rider, Ruby Yeoman and Leonie Lambert; four brothers, James Bentley Dalton, Albert Dalton, Stan Dalton, and Gene Dalton; and half sister, Maggie.
She is survived by five sons, James Kidd and wife, Kathy, Kenneth Kidd and wife, Garlanda, Micky Kidd and wife, Shelby, and Darrell Kidd and wife, Debbie all of Bastian, Va., and Richard Kidd and wife, Tammy of Bluefield, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Pastor Kevin Bruce Hagy officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Matt Harman, Stacy Brewer, Adam Kidd, and Casey Brewer.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2012.
