Kenneth J. Smith
BLUEFIELD — Kenneth J. Smith, 68, of 638 Rockbridge Street, Bluefield, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
He was born in Bland, Va., on October 10, 1944, a son of the late George W. Smith and Emma Sluder Smith. Mr. Smith worked at Flowers Bakery for over 35 years and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was an avid collector and NASCAR fan, but most of all he loved his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sara A. Smith, of the home; children, Drenda Hayes and husband Ricky of Bluewell, W.Va., Brandon Smith, of the home, Chad Smith, of Bluewell, W.Va, and Kenneth W. Smith, of Laurel Boomer, Tenn.; brother, Harold E. Smith and his wife Gaye of Cornerville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Ashton Hayes, Austin Hayes, Katryna Smith, Jordan Smith; one step-granddaughter, Kendra Smith; niece, Teresa Mathis, of Cornerville, Tenn.; nephew, Ricky Smith, of Cornerville; and ex-daughter-in-law, Faye Smith of Tennessee.
A memorial service will be conducted on Friday February 22, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. from Midway Christian Church with Minister Dan Webb officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until the service hour.
In honoring Mr. Smith's wishes, he will be cremated.
