KEYSTONE —
Edward William "Ed" Lester, age 84, of 322 Burke Addition Road, Keystone, W.Va. went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning (February 16, 2013) at his residence after a short illness with his wife and daughter by his side. Born June 15, 1928 in Vivian, W.Va., he was the son of the late Maurice Lester and Mae Rose Lester Sizemore.
He was a faithful member of the Little Vine Baptist Church, Superior, W.Va. where he served as a Deacon and was a greeter. He was retired from the Department of Highways as a welder and maintenance worker after 19 years of service. He was a resident of McDowell County all his life.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Blankenship.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Leona "Onie" Burks Lester of the home; one son, Wayne Lester and wife Debbie of Elkhorn, W.Va.; three daughters, Lynn Penland and husband Gary of Strasburg, Va., Jane Lawson and husband Richard of Bluefield, W.Va., Janet England and husband Jeff of Carswell, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday (February 19, 2013) at 1:00 p.m. at the Little Vine Baptist Church, Superior, W.Va. with the Rev. Alvin Belcher and the Rev. Tommy Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at the Belcher Mt. Cemetery, on Belcher Mt. near Welch, W.Va. Friends may call Monday at the Little Vine Baptist Church, Superior, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
