BLUEFIELD —
Marion Olivia Hairston Dodson, 84, of Bluefield, W.Va. went to her heavenly home on Monday, January 14, 2013 following a brief illness in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Marion was born September 7, 1928 in Bluefield, W.Va. to Royal C. Hairston and Willie Mae Hairston. She attended the public schools of Mercer County, graduating from Genoa High School in 1946. Marion was married to Andrew L. Dodson and to this union, one son was born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Royal Hairston; and her sister, Edith Hairston Shelton.
Marion was an employee of Richardson Funeral Home for many years. She was a faithful member of Scott Street Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a Trustee, a member of the Celestial Choir, the Helping Hand Circle, the Missionary Society, the Usher Board, the Sunday School and the Kitchen Committee. She was also a member of the Downtown Neighborhood Association.
Marion is survived by her son, Ronald (Susan) Dodson, Bluefield, W.Va.; a host of nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 21, 2013 at noon. Friends may call two hours prior to service at the G.H. Sinkford Memorial Chapel, Richardson Funeral Home. Burial to follow at the Roselawn Cemetery, Princeton, W.Va.
