PRINCETON —
Virgie M. Bateman of Princeton, formerly of McDowell County, passed away from a sudden illness on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 in a Morgantown hospital with her family by her side.
Born Aug. 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Robert Penley and Ebbie Blankenship Penley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant children and her husband, Vernon Bateman.
Left behind to cherish her memory are three daughters, Deborah Lowe and husband Paul of Princeton, Sharon Buttaci and husband Sal of Princeton, and Kim Valko of Hancock, Md.; sisters, Pinky Amos of Wilmington, Del. and Sue Katusich of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, Vickie Jones of Hopewell, Va., Melissa Lipscomb of Princeton, David Fisher of Lawrence, Kan., Zachary Valko of Charleston, S.C. and Kiersten Valko of Radford, Va.; great-grandchildren, Kayla Lowe and Matthew Jones of Hopewell, Va., Ace and Sophia Lipscomb of Princeton, Olivia and Leanna Fisher of Downs, Kan.; one great-great-grandson, Ryland Lowe of Hopewell, Va.; as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends, both in McDowell County and at Princeton Towers where she resided.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Roselawn Funeral Home, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, WV. The funeral service will be conducted by Brother Eugene Hazelwood immediately following the visitation at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell, (McDowell County) where Brother Bill Christian will have a brief word.
Friends and family will have the honor of serving as pallbearers.
