Vernon B. “Eddie” Woods Jr.
PRINCETON — Vernon B. “Eddie” Woods Jr., 46, of Glacier Lane, Princeton, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from injuries received from an automobile accident near Princeton.
Born January 24, 1967, in Atlanta Ga., he was the son of Donna Rarick Woods of Princeton and the late Vernon Boone Woods, Sr.
He was raised in Roswell, Ga., and was the only child of the Woods family. He graduated in 1985 from Lassiter High School in Marietta, Ga., and attended Georgia Southern College and Kennesaw College before joining the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Lackland AFB in Spokane, Wash.
He met and married his wife Deborah Crockett while in the Air Force and they had a beautiful auburn-haired daughter whom they named Amanda. After serving time in the Air Force, Eddie moved his family to Georgia to be close to the grandparents. Eddie worked for several companies in and around Atlanta and Roswell such as ASCAP; Leed's Building & Supply; Title Max and others. His father died in 2001 and his ex-wife died in 2005, his daughter, Amanda, came to West Virginia to live with her grandmother, Donna Woods and she attended Princeton High School. She was adopted by her grandmother.
Vernon (Eddie) moved to West Virginia in 2007 and lived with his mother. Eddie, Amanda and Donna became very close as a family and with the Lord. Eddie was very happy that he and Amanda were attending Concord University together. While time permitted, Eddie was employed by Wallace Security doing working at Pikeview Middle School and other locations in this area.
Services to celebrate the life of Eddie Woods will be held 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Eric Stovall and Buster Kestner officiating.
The family will honor Eddie's request, his body will be cremated following his services.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until the service hour.
