CRUMPLER —
Howard Franklin Stanley, 79, of P.O. Box 856, Northfork (Crumpler), W.Va., passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at his residence.
Born July 16, 1933 in Crumpler, W.Va., he was a son of the late Chester and Virginia Thomason Stanley. Mr. Stanley was a resident of Crumpler his entire life, of the Methodist faith and was a veteran of the Korean conflict having served in the U.S. Army. In addition Howard was a retired coal miner and was a life long member of the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years: Shirley Ann Edwards Stanley of the home; three sons: Randy Stanley and wife Deborah of Crumpler, Mark Stanley and wife Mary Ann of Chilhowie, Va., Brian Stanley and companion Julie Nelson of Alpoca, W.Va.; three daughters: Christine Burkett and husband Allen of Burke Mt., W.Va., Sherrie Bailey and husband Richard Sr. of Herndon Heights, W.Va., Kazan Reed and husband Matthew of Richmond, Va.; three brothers: Earnest Stanley and wife Darlene of Richmond, Va., Ray Stanley and wife Mary of Charleston, W.Va., Larry Stanley and wife Linda of Richmond, Va.; a sister: Judy Rickman and husband Fred of Beckley, W.Va.; thirteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Howard Stanley will be conducted Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Caves officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens located in Princeton, W.Va. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the West Virginia Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Serving the family as pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
Friends may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 12:00 noon until service time.
