PRINCETON —
Patricia Ann Kennedy, 68, of the Brush Creek Falls Road, Princeton (Speedway), died early Thursday morning, Aug. 2, 2012 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Born Dec. 9, 1943, at Anawalt, she was the daughter of the late John Monk and Clara Dillon Monk.
Patricia was a graduate of Gary High School and had attended Business College in the Washington, D.C. area. Patricia had worked for the Department of Navy at the Pentagon.
She was a former employee for the Bank of Iaeger prior to moving to Princeton the Princeton area in 1981. She, along with her late husband, Virgil, owned and operated the Speedway Grocery for many years. Patricia was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking and loved watching the WVU Mountaineer's. She was a member of the Mount Jackson Baptist Church in Athens and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter in Iaeger.
She was a devoted wife, mother and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Kennedy.
Survivors include her six children, Virgil Kennedy II of Speedway, Ernestine Battlo and husband, Tom, of Princeton, Trease Wagers and husband, Walt, of Bluff City, Tenn., Michael Kennedy of Covington, Va., David Kennedy and wife, Beth, of Morgantown, Cliff Kennedy and wife, Kelli, of Proctorville, Ohio; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; an aunt, Bertha Monk of Virginia; and her faithful four-legged companion, Ethan.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. Entombment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum at Bluewell. A time of sharing with the family will be held Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley or the American Cancer Society.
