BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Roxie Lena Puckett Angles, 99, of Bluefield, Va. departed from this earth on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Carrington Place in Wytheville, Va. She was born October 26th. 1912 in Pisgah, Va. She was the third child of the late Mose Mitchell Puckett and Alice Laura Lockhart Puckett. She attended public school in Maxwell and Tazewell, Va.
She was a faithful servant of the Lord and member of the Mid-Way Christian Church.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Her guidance and leadership were to teach valuable life skills to children, grandchildren and employees alike. Her most profound lessons were by example and humility.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Crockett Angles; one son, Douglas E. Angles; granddaughter, Karen Olsen; grandson, Kevin Angles; sister, Georgia Kathleen Puckett; and brother, Henry Bowen Puckett; and daughter-in-law, Wanda S. Phillips Angles.
She is survived by sons, Gordon C. Angles and wife, Judy of Williamsburg, Va., W. Roger Angles and fiancé, Dale A. Stover; daughters, Jean and late husband, Richard of Cheshire, Ore., Alene and husband, George “Bud” Olsen of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Doris “Jerri” Farmer and late husband, Ray of North Tazewell, Va.; and daughter-in-law, Mary Taylor Angles of Bluefield, Va. She had 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with Minister Dan Webb officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 12 noon until hour of services.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27th at the Midway Christian Church in Bluefield.
Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va. is serving the Roxie Lena Puckett Angles family.
