WINCHESTER, Va. —
John W. King Sr., 82, of Winchester, Va., and formerly from Bluefield, Va., died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Veteran's Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va. He was born in Rocky Gap, Va., and was a son of the late John Henry King and Mattie Ann Dorsey King.
He was a self-employed contractor-carpenter, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and attended church at the Bluefield, Va. Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Allie Gray Rolen King; brothers, Ralph King, and Clifford King; and a sister, Rethea King.
He is survived by sons, John W. King Jr. and wife, Maxine, of Princeton, W.Va., Brian K. King and wife, Christina, of Winchester, Va.; daughter, Margie Roy and husband, Mike, of Winchester, Va.; grandchildren, Felicia Williams and husband, Boddie, of Orange, Va., Ericka Barnes and husband, Dave, of Slainsville, W.Va., Kristopher King of Winchester Va., Cody King of Winchester, Va., Corey King of Winchester, Va., Matthew Roy of Harrisonburg, Va.; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruby Roten and husband, Herman, of Bluefield, Va., Shirley Kidd of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Pearl Yost of New Waterford, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held today, Monday, July 2, 2012 at 12 noon at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with Pastors Larry White and Tony Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be John W. King Jr., Brian King, Kristopher King, Corey King, Cody King, and Billy Iacone. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services.
