BLUEFIELD, Va. — Beulah L. Pettigrew, 96, of Bluefield, Va., formerly of Warriormine, W.Va., (McDowell County), departed this life on March 11, 2010, at her home. Born April 9, 1913 in Hinton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Isaiah E. Gore and Cora Pack Gore. Mrs. Pettigrew was a former elementary school teacher having graduated from Bluefield Colored Institute now named Bluefield State College, Bluefield, W.Va. For over twenty-five years, she was an Avon sales representative for the War-Coalwood area. She was a very active and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of War, W.Va., until its closing and then Second Baptist Church, Caretta, W.Va. until its closure. Mrs. Pettigrew was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Pettigrew, Jr.; two sisters; and five brothers. Left to cherish precious memories are daughters, Jacqueline (Ronald) Gay of Charlotte, N.C. and Linda (Anglis, Jr.) Trigg of Bluefield, Va.; granddaughters, Michelle Septh of Monroe, N.Y., Mona (Ray) Colon of Tobyhanna, Pa., Melony (Peter) Bush of Las Vegas, Nev., Lori (Rory) Graham of Bluefield, Va., Jacqueline Woodson of Charlotte, N.C.; and grandson, Kerry J. Trigg of Columbus, Ohio; four great-granddaughters; four great-grandsons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 12 p.m. noon at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 113 Wilson Street, Bluefield, Va. with the Reverend Joseph Moore and the Reverend Donald Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Littlesburg Road, Bluewell, W.Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
