BRAMWELL — Evalena Hollingsworth, 88, of Bramwell, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at United Hebrew Geriatric Center in Pelham, N.Y. Born October 6, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Mary Virgie (Clay) Mitchell. She was a member of Infirmity Prayer Service Memorial Chapel. Evalena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Edward Hollingsworth; three sisters, Isabelle (Fred) Washington, Sue Mae Mitchell, Emma Thomas; and one brother, Willie Mitchell. Evalena was also preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy (Howard) Echols-Williams; and two great-grandchildren, SSG Courtney A. Hollingsworth and Asija Nichole Law.
Evalena is survived by one sister, Lucille (Jefferson) Walton of Douglaston, N.Y.; two sons, Sylvesta Hollingsworth of New Rochelle, N.Y. and Leo (Evelyn) Hollingsworth of Pelham, N.C.; two daughters, Alease Green of Yonkers, N.Y. and Gloria (Allen) Law of Bluefield, Va.; adopted daughter, Wilma (Simmons) Thomas; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
Funeral will be Friday, March 19, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery in Bluewell, W.Va.
