LASHMEET —
Nannie Kathleen Billings Bailey, 91, of Lashmeet, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born April 15, 1921 at Dott, she was the daughter of the late Jesse O. Billings and Mary Tilley Billings.
She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. Her greatest loves were cooking, decorating her home, canning and cleaning while listening to bluegrass music. She loved her family dearly. She made everyone feel special and she loved helping people. She was the greatest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a very special person and will be sorely missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Orla Bailey on October 18, 2000; six infant children; six brothers, Riley Billings, Irvin Billings, Clifford Billings, Gilbert Billings, Golden Billings and Eldridge Billings; four sisters, Vacie Cooper, Mildred Graham, Lucille Brunty and Bonnie Shrewsbury; one grandson, Franklin Delano Wiley and one great-granddaughter, Carolyne Mae Barton.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie B. Wiley and husband Mason and Eva Mae Wiley all of Pipestem and Donna B. Bristow of Richmond, Va.; one son, Johnny M. Bailey and wife Sandy of Lashmeet; companion and caregiver for the past 11 years, George Thornton; one sister, Louise Belcher of Princeton; one brother-in-law, Donzie Bailey of Maryland; grandchildren, Sherry W. Ratliff and husband Jeff, Lori Anne Kinney all of Pipestem, Shelly B. Galan, Theresa B. Dolan and husband Collie and Charles Bristow Jr. all of Richmond, Va., Banita Wiley of Princeton, Amy W. Smith and husband Mike of Kaoma, Zambia, Melissa B. Ellison and husband Shane of Princeton and Johnny Bailey Jr. of Lashmeet; great-grandchildren, Heather B. Stroop of Richmond, Va., Zachary D. Baldwin of Philadelphia, Pa., Matthew, Samantha, Noah and Savannah Galan all of Midlothian, Va., Abigail McNair of Denver, Colo., Summer Dolan of Amelia, Va., Tyler and Evie Smith of Kaoma, Zambia, Tristan, Jacob, Daniel and Charlie Kinney of Pipestem, Samantha and Rain Ellison of Princeton; great-great-grandchildren, Logan and Owen Stroop of Richmond, Va.; her companion's children whom she loved dearly, Lee Thornton and wife Amanda and their son Ethan Troy of Spanishburg and Chris Thornton and wife Erin and their children Destiny and Ekaeka of Pikeville, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Norman Mills and the Rev. Bill Deskins officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Bailey Jr., Charlie Bristow Jr., Zachary Baldwin, Jeff Ratliff, Lee Thornton, Chris Thornton, Randall Dickerson and Frankie Brunty.
Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 17 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
