BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Garland Leon Kitts Sr., 84, of 421 Virginia Ave., Bluefield, Va., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Bluefield, Va., and was a son of the late Ira Dunn Kitts and Trucie McFarland Kitts.
Garland was retired from the Frito-Lay Company after 30 years of service and had worked later for Robo Car Wash in Bluefield for 12 years. He was a member of the Graham Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, Va., and served in the U.S. Army during the German Occupation. He was also a member of the Harman Lodge 222 A.F.&A.M.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Samantha Gremore.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Helen Louise Hoops Kitts; sons, Curtis Edward Earls and wife Kathy of Kernersville, N.C., David Alan (Squirrel) Earls of Bluefield, Va., Garland L. Kitts Jr. and wife Ashley of Winston-Salem, N.C., Roger Steven Kitts of Bluefield, Va.; daughter, Anna Christine Brewster and husband David of Bluefield, Va.; brothers, Ira Kitts of Jacksonville, Fla., Elmer Kitts and wife Mary of Harvey, Ill., Glenn Kitts of Bluefield, Va., Herbert Kitts and wife Clara of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Nathan Kitts and wife Helen of Bluefield, Va.; sister, Claudette Stafford of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Cryptside entombment services will be held Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Mausoleum with the Rev. William Lively officiating. Military services will also be conducted by the Bluefield, Va. VFW 9696 and the Pocahontas American Legion Post 14.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Graham Presbyterian Church, 140 S. College Ave., Bluefield, Va. or to the American Diabetic Association, P.O. Box 115, Dunbar, W.Va., or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 12110, Charleston, W.Va. 25302.
