Margaret Georganna Calfee

BLUEFIELD — Margaret Georganna Calfee, of Bluefield, W.Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 20, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 24, 1944 in Greenville, Texas, and was the daughter of the late George A. and Elizabeth H. Morton.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Bill Calfee; sons, Dan Musgrove and wife Laura of Millstone Township, N.J. and David Calfee and wife Kim, of Tazewell, Va.; daughter, Jane Calfee of Charleston, S.C. Sisters, Joan Lynch of Charleston, S.C.; Jane Benton and husband Terry of Charleston, S.C.; and Barbara Fuller and husband Chris of Gainesville, Fla. Grandchildren include Katherine Leigh Calfee, David Allen Calfee Jr. and William Thomas Calfee, all of Tazewell, Va. Nieces and nephews include Joseph Lynch and daughter Millie, of Raleigh, N.C.; Todd Wilkinson and wife, Hillaree, and children, Adam and Noah, of Mooresville, N.C.; Kelly and George Fuller, of Gainesville, Fla.; Lea Ann Goodson, husband Kirk, and children Reid, Gavin and Leah, of King N.C.; Julie Blanchard, husband, Shane and children, Alex and Addison, of Salem, Va.; Maura and Hana Benton, of Charleston, S.C.

Special caregivers include Sabrina Robinette, Jackie Morgan, Heather Pugalee and Tina Hypes.

In 1970, Georganna and Bill founded Eastern Vault Company, in Princeton, W.Va., and in 1982, the two of them purchased American Block Company. They have operated and managed both companies over the past 42 years.  

Georganna was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, W.Va. While at the church, she was a member of Circle 1, the Womens' Prayer Fellowship, and the World Outreach Committee. She also spent time working with the youth group and went on several mission trips with them. She was a very diligent member of the Salt & Light Sunday School class and according to other members of the class, was an excellent “servant leader”.  She was a very active member of the Appalachian Artists Association, and enjoyed spending time with her artist friends and creating her beautiful paintings. For many years, she was a counselor for the ABEL Crisis Pregnancy Center in Bluefield, W.Va. Another of her many passions were working with flowers. She was a member of a garden club in Princeton and served as a Flower Show judge for many years. She was an avid supporter of the Wade Center, in Bluefield, W.Va. and the Bluefield Union Mission. Her compassion and caring has had wide-reaching effects over the course of her life. All of her works, encouragement and love, will never be recognized, quantified or even known; all pointing towards her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Tom Musselman officiating, burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Friends may visit with the family Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Don Shillingburg, Doug McDaniel, Todd Wilkinson, Brian Struble, Roger Monk and Mark Riley. With Honorary pallbearers, David Allen Calfee Jr. and William Thomas Calfee.
