TAZEWELL, Va. —
James B. “Jim” Bailey Jr., age 73, of Tazewell, Va., died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn. Born September 30, 1939 at Busthead in Cedar Bluff, Va., he was the son of the late James Bandy Bailey Sr. and Winnie Orr Bailey.
Mr. Bailey and family founded and operated the Farmers Livestock Market in Tazewell, Va. He helped establish the First Sentinel Bank and served as a Director for many years. Jim loved his community and was involved in many projects throughout his life. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Ellen Mays Bailey; two sons, James Bandy Bailey III and wife, Maggie L. Bailey of Bluefield, W.Va. and Mark David Bailey and wife, Amanda Ruth Bailey of Tazewell, Va.; four grandchildren, Randal Edwin Bailey, Ashley Nicole Bailey, Devin Wayne Stevens and Sarah Danielle Mitchem and husband, Josh Calloway Mitchem; great-grandson, Jayden Bailey Bryant; great-granddaughter, Kylee Paige Mitchem; four sisters, Jean Walk and husband, Donald of Tazewell, Va., Nancy Ratliff and husband, James of Troutville, Va., Peggy Rusek and husband, Joe of Gate City, Va., and Carol Ann Bailey of Cedar Bluff, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va. where a memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. with Pastor Don Waddell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
