BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Peggy Jean Fowler Bowles, 79, of 316 Hillcrest Drive, Bluefield, Va., died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Princeton Community Hospital. She was born in McComas, W.Va. on September 5, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Everett and Muriel Johnson Fowler.
She was a graduate of McComas High School and worked at Greater Bluefield Credit Bureau before assuming a position with the State Farm Insurance Agency, working side by side with her husband for 25 years.
After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, playing golf and spending winters with her “snowbird” friends in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Carl Fowler and her sister, Betty Clark.
Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, David E. Bowles of the home; two daughters, Pat McCoy and husband Brian and Elizabeth (Betsy) Bowles all of Bluefield, Va.; beloved grandson, Taylor McCoy of Christiansburg, Va.; brother-in-law, Hank Clark of Brandwine, Md.; sister-in-law, Maria Fowler of Reno, Nev.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with Pastor Alan Pierce and Father Russ Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Archie McCoy, Brian McCoy, Taylor McCoy, Joe Johnson, Brent Surface, Donnie Gott. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Darlington, Dr. Doug Chambers, and Dr. Donald Asbury.
Friends may visit with the family today from 6-8 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va.
Dudley Memorial Mortuary is serving the Bowles family.
