TAZEWELL, Va. —
Judith Lena Shawver, age 54, of Tazewell, Va., died Monday, January 7, 2013 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va.
Born May 28, 1958 in Tazewell, Va., she was a daughter of the late Robert Preston Shawver Jr. and Callie Virginia Myers Shawver. She was the granddaughter of the late Wiley Winton Myers and Lena Mae Thompson Myers and the late Robert Preston Shawver and Ira Susan Ruble Shawver.
Judy was a 1976 graduate of Tazewell High School and a 1980 graduate of Bluefield State College with a BS Degree in Business Administration. She was a former employee of Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Thornton L. Newlon, Attorney at Law, Bill Foster Real Estate Appraiser, and the Tazewell Circuit Court Clerk's Office. She attended Chestnut Grove Christian Church for many years. Judy was a member of the Family Council at Heritage Hall Health Care and was a member of the Tazewell County Moose Lodge #198.
Survivors include special friends, Leonard Smith of North Tazewell, Va., Charlie and Charlene Smith of Tazewell, Va.; Jemima Lester of Haysi, Va., Bob and Katie McGlaughlin of Thompson Valley, Va.; aunt, Fannie Vance of Dayton, Ohio and several cousins; special doggie companion, Trixie; many other special friends also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va. where funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. with the Reverend Sammy Barnett officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va. Those planning to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob McGlaughlin, Buddy Blevins, Jack Witten, Rick McCann, Jim Coker, Bill Hamm, April Poteet, and Jamie Griffith.
