BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Freddie James Baldwin, age 41, of the Mudfork community in Bluefield, Va., died Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. Born August 1, 1971 in Bluefield, W.Va., he was a son of James “B.D.” Baldwin of Mudfork, Va. and the late Cora Etta Pruett Baldwin. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Gulf War.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his son and daughter, Austin J. Daniel Baldwin and Savannah Dawn Baldwin; his former wife and mother of his children, Lawanda Peck all of Christiansburg, Va.; sister, Jackie Peck and fiancé, Jimmy Jackson of Bluefield, Va.; nephew, Cody Baldwin of Tazewell, Va. and fiancée, Mandy; nieces, Rae Baldwin of Bluefield, Va. and fiancé, Chase Graham, Latisha Hicks, Megan Sheets, and Katelyn Sheets all of Tazewell, Va.; great-nieces, Isabella, and Cayiee and great-nephews, Seth and Braylen; uncle, Brittain Conley of North Tazewell, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with the Reverend Lawrence Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Shelton Cemetery on Red Root Ridge in Tazewell County, Va. where military graveside rites will be conducted by members of the Barns Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell, Va. Pallbearers will be Cody Baldwin, Austin Baldwin, Chase Graham, Jimmy Jackson, Cordell Swim, and Kenneth “Babe' Swim.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013.
