NARROWS, Va. —
June Lambert Chaney, 91, of Narrows, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 9th, 2013 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg.
She was born in Bland County, Virginia on October 7th, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Vance S. and Ada Strauther Crabtree Lambert. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jake Chester Chaney; and two infant brothers.
A retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 43 years of service in the CA Lab, June was a longtime and faithful member of Hales Chapel United Methodist Church, and served as a past-president and secretary of the Wolf Creek Ruritan Club. She enjoyed quilting, reading, and summers with her granddaughter.
Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Theresa Walter and husband Fred of Narrows; a granddaughter, Ada Renee’ Lipscomb and husband Jake and great-granddaughter, Aarilynn of Greensboro, North Carolina; two sisters, Shirley Wheeler and Jackie King, both of Narrows; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12th, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Hales Chapel United Methodist Church in the Wolf Creek community near Narrows with the Rev. Aaron Atchley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
