PRINCETON —
Julius “Henry” Robinette, 85, of Morningside, Princeton, died peacefully early Monday morning, January 7, 2013 at his home following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Born August 24, 1927 in Rock, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Julius Lewis Robinett and Laura Norman Robinett.
Henry was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army, and was discharged in 1947 having served in Germany and Japan.
Henry retired from US Steel Corporation at Gary, as a machinist, with 21 years of service. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a charter member of the First Assembly of God Church, Princeton, and had served as Sunday School Superintendent for more than 25 years.
Henry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was an avid golfer who achieved a hole in one.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 10 siblings: Alfred Robinett, Pearl Hylton Mays, Ralph Robinett, Mabel Martin, Kathleen Robinett, Frank Robinett, Stella Motelet, J.L. Robinette, Carrie Banker and Ruth Bombelyn.
Survivors include his loving and caring wife, Joy Laxton Robinette; four children and their spouses: Debbie and Lee Sutton, Richard Robinette and Cindy Kelly of Princeton, Sharon and Danny Hunter of Princeton, Karen and David Sluss of Bluefield, Virginia; eight grandchildren: Anthony Robertson, Brandon Sutton, Cory Robinette, Ashley Robinette, Jessica Hunter Marion, Bryson Hunter, Isaiah Sluss, Leah Sluss and several great-grandchildren; three siblings: Ira Robinett of Princeton, Virginia Leffel of Bluefield, and Betty Williams of Pueblo, Colorado; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Henry Robinette will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the First Assembly of God Church, New Hope Road, Princeton, with Pastors Brad Puckett and Charles Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with military honors given under the direction of the WV Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends Thursday from noon until the service hour at the church.

The honor of serving the Robinette family has been given to the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
