LEXINGTON, N.C. —
Mark Alan Sylvester, 52, of Green Meadows Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Duke University Medical Center.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday Jan. 5, 2013 at Holloways Baptist Church where he was a member, with military rites by Davidson County Honor Guard, conducted by the Rev. Dana Slack and Buddy Michael. The family will be at the home other times.
Mr. Sylvester was born May 1, 1960 in Mercer County, West Virginia to Fred and Ruby Tiller Sylvester. He was an engineer with Norfork Southern Railroad and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy.
His parents and two infant sisters, Valerie and Rene` preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Melinda Harris Sylvester of the home; his sons; Devin Sylvester of New York and Zachary Sylvester of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Shannan Sylvester of Lexington, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Xander, Gianna and Laylah. Also surviving are brothers, Mickey Sylvester of West Virginia and Fred Sylvester of Virginia.
