BLUEFIELD —
Constance Cheryl “Connie” Bailey, age 63, of 1228 College Avenue, Bluefield, W.Va., passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.
Born on April 7, 1949 in Bluefield, she was a daughter of the late Beatrice Meadwell. Connie had been a lifelong resident of Bluefield. She was a member of the New Vision Church and was active in the Women's Ministry. She taught nursery school and had love for children.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Allen Bailey.
Survivors include: Husband: Michael E. Bailey of the home; sons: Mike Meadwell and wife Raevenna Meadwell of Bluefield, Va., Charles “Chuck Anthony” Meadwell of Fayetteville, N.C.; stepson: David Bailey and wife Cathy of Ohio; stepdaughter: Mollie Bailey of Ohio; brother-in-law: Davey Bailey of the home, Paul and Linda Bailey of Worth, W.Va.; grandchildren: Katie Meadwell of Bluefield, Va., James Richard Hess II of Bluefield, Va., Angela Hess of Morgantown, W.Va., Jennifer Agee of Bluewell; great-grandchildren: Jamie and Jacob Hess, Dylan Mullins, Jordan Agee, Abigail Hess and Ellie Bailey; special friends: Barbara and Bobby Rose; loving Dog and her companion: Lucky.
Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Patrick Wheeler and the Rev. Reginald Hamlet officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where James Richard Hess II, Clay Bailey, Nelson Shrader, Otis Bishop, Stanley Jennings, Jerry Kelly and Josh Agee will serve as pallbearers. Jacob Hess and Dylan Mullins will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
