Gordon McRay Bennett
PRINCETON — Gordon McRay Bennett, 61, of Princeton, passed away peacefully at home Monday, March 18, 2013. Born November 10, 1951 at Beckley, he was the son of the late Fred V. Bennett and Cora Jean Trail Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Consol Energy after 18 years. He was a member of the Bud Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Vickie Carter Bennett; two daughters, Laura A. Wimmer and her husband C.J. of Bluefield, Va., and Sara A. Bailey and Joe Grose of Montcalm; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Fred V. Bennett, Jr. and his wife Diane of Claremont, N.C. and Frank E. Bennett and his wife Lilly of Kegley; one half-brother, Joey Tilley of Beckley; and three sisters, Alice Bailey and her husband Larry of Matoaka, Patricia Hancock and her husband Sidney of Kegley and Rene Reed and her husband Timothy of Basin.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton with Pastor Margaret Holt officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 22, 2013 from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.bailey-kirk.com.
