Marie Clark Niday

PRINCETON — Marie Clark Niday, 94, of Princeton, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Glenwood Retirement Village.

She was born October 29, 1918, in Bland County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Charlie Wesley Clark and Dada Myers Clark.

Marie was a devoted wife and dedicated mother to nine children. She was co-founder, (with her husband), of Sandlick Baptist Church some sixty years ago and has since endeavored to lead all who would heed in the way of Christian Godliness.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Reverend Frank Perry Niday; one daughter, Barbara A. Mercier; one son, Harold D. Niday; two sisters, Willie Meadows and Mildred Gibson; two grandsons, Daniel Dean Niday and Daren Niday.

She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children; E. Mary and husband Harold Greenwood of Edmond, Okla.; Gloria, wife of Harold Niday of Burton, Texas; Sylvia Lee and husband Richard Proctor of Clayton, N.C.; Jackson A. Niday and wife Lillian of Bluefield; Teddy F. Niday and wife Angela of Princeton; Mary Jane and husband George Coleman of Bluefield; Evelyn Gay Niday of Johns Creek, Ga.; and Joe Allen Niday and wife Carol of Roanoke, Va. One sister, Faye Sarver of Roanoke, Va.; 24 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; many extended family members and friends.

A service of celebration for Marie Niday will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Bill Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Bradley Cemetery at Lindside.

Friends may visit with the family Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The Honor of serving the Niday family has been given to the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
