POUNDING MILL, Va. —
Larry Eugene Dotson, age 59, of Pounding Mill, Va., passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Grundy, Va. and was the son of the late Ellis and Nannie Mae Lucas Dotson. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1972-1977 during the Vietnam Era. He was a truck driver for the former Rag Pickers. He was a member of the Claypool Hill Church of Christ and he lived most of his life in the Pounding Mill area.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Lois Elizabeth Stiltner, Edith Virginia Kinser, Velda Ruth Owens, Muriel Shannon Cooley, Anne Frances Yeagy, and Phyllis Dotson; and three brothers, Paul Lucas Dotson, Charles Douglas Dotson and Clarence Lee Dotson.
He is survived by: His loving wife, Susan Eileen Keene Dotson of Pounding Mill, Va.; two daughters: Leigh-Andrea Hope Dotson of Littleton, Colo., Carime Laken Dotson Puckett and husband, Jason of Tazewell, Va.; one son: Gordon Ellis Dotson of Pounding Mill, Va.; two sisters: Rebecca Gail Dotson of Clinton, Tenn., Karen Louise Dotson of Marion, Ind.; two brothers: James Darrell Dotson and wife, Mary Grace of Harlem, Ga., Gary Thomas Harrison and wife, Ginger of Vansant, Va.; two grandchildren: Grayson Edward Puckett and Kaitlyn Noel Puckett.
Funeral services for Larry Eugene Dotson will be conducted on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va. with Evangelist Bob Smith officiating. Military graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain Home National Cemetery, in Johnson City, Tenn. Pallbearers will be Gary Harrison, Ronnie Keene, Kevin Keene, Chuck Stiltner, Rick Garcia and Dennis Ball. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Ramey, Don Qualls, Jerry Davis, Tyron Vandyke, Jason Puckett and “Big Boy” Grayson Edward Puckett. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, 1401 Second Street, Richlands, Va.
