LASHMEET — Darlene Lois Grogan, 65, of Lashmeet, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at her home. Born December 16, 1944 at Springton, she was the daughter of the late Mike Meadows and Edna Elliott Meadows.
Mrs. Grogan last worked for Mercer County Schools at Lashmeet Elementary School. She was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker, loving wife and devoted caregiver to her family. No one was a stranger to her, and she was like a mother to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death two sisters, Brenda Barrett and infant Leona Faye Meadows; and one brother, James Earl Meadows.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Paul Spencer Grogan, Sr. of the home; three daughters, Teresa Via and her husband Chris of Lake Shawnee and Leona Grogan and Debra Hawkes and her husband Brian, all of Princeton; five sons, Paul Grogan, Jr. of Lashmeet, Mike Grogan and his wife Kim of Taylorsville, N.C., Shawn Grogan of the home, Michael Meadows and his wife Delores of Rock and Johnny Meadows and his wife Heather of Matoaka; one sister, Shirley Brinkley and her husband Johnny of Princeton; three brothers, Michael Meadows and his wife Diane of Auburn, Ill., Glen David Meadows of Lake Shawnee and Aaron Dean Meadows of Beeson; two aunts, Myrle Kelly and Reva Jenkins and her husband Roy, all of Princeton; 25 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Daisy Ryan of Lashmeet.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Reverends Randolph Dishner and Ron Richards officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery at Green Valley.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Harris, Justin Gerber, Austin Shrewsbury, David Grogan, Jordan Grogan, Gary Tooley and Josh Cline.
