POUNDING MILL, Va. —
Thelma Turner Harrison, age 94, of Pounding Mill, Virginia, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at Clinch Valley Medical Center.
Born August 18, 1918 at Cliffield, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William and Rachel Witt Turner. One of her favorite things was cooking Sunday dinner for her family. She was a member of the Cliffield Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Harrison; her son, Charles William Harrison; grandson, Charles David Harrison; great-grandson, Jordan Cheyne Prol; five sisters and one brother. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation.
She is survived by three daughters, Cora Lambert of N. Tazewell, Va., Virginia Smith and husband Lonnie of Alexandria, La. and Connie Charles and husband Bobby of Bluefield, W.Va.; one son, Walter Harrison of the home; grandson whom she raised, James Gross and wife Marie of Pounding Mill, Va.; former daughter-in-law, Robin Montgomery of Bristol, Va.; former son-in-law, Jack Proffitt of Statesboro, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Janet Harrison, Ruth Mitchell and Jerome Whitt.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia with the Rev. Chris White officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Those attending the graveside service are requested to meet at the mausoleum.
