WHITEWOOD, Va. —
Hubert Arlin White, age 74, went to be with The Lord November 6, 2012 in Bristol Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Whitewood, Va. a son of the late John White and Mary Keen White Boyd.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Worley White and brother, Henry Starlin White. Hubert served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959. He was a certified welder, having worked at Bristol Steel, and was a supervisor there for many years. He moved to Conneticut to work as a plant foreman at National Eastern for 15 years. He retired Dec. 2002 then moved to Glade Springs at his current residence. Hubert loved to fish, hunt, garden and spend time with his family.
Surviving to cherish his memory are: Four daughters, Linda and Randy Morelock of Bristol, Tenn., Diane and Charles White of Watauga, Tenn., Mary Jane and Wendall Theriault of Bristol, Conn., Karen and Marc Girardian of Bristol, Conn.; sons, Tony Worley, Mike Worley, Scotty and wife Diane White of Johnson City, Tenn.; brothers, Earl Boyd and wife Jane of Richlands, Va., Sam Boyd Jr. and wife Mary of Pounding Mill, Va.; sisters, Naomi Horn of Pounding Mill, Va., and Mable Horn of Austin, Texas. Eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; special friends, Harvey Spence, Fred Cunningham, Doug Bowery, Jim Mullins, Dallas Hayden, Ben Widener, Homer Keen and Dewey Keen Jr.
A funeral service will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Fritz and the Rev. Robbie Coggins officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. There will be a private entombment in the Mountain View Mausoleum.
