PRINCETON —
Gloria Eileen Freeland Watson, 91, of Princeton passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 at Wythe County Hospital in Wytheville, Va. Born July 5, 1921 in Rhodell, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Singleton Freeland and Marjorie Heath Freeland.
Gloria was a retired employee of the Mercer County Health Center and was a lifetime member of the NAACP. She was an active member of the Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church in Bluefield where she gave praises to God and enjoyed wearing a variety of beautiful, elegant church hats. She loved gardening, and caring for and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Curtis Raymond Freeland and wife Marion and daughter Victoria. She will be sadly missed by her husband of over sixty years, Roy Watson Sr.; four children, Gloria Woodland and husband Peter of Princeton, Carolyn Finnie of Washington, DC, Roy Watson Jr. and wife Gwendolyn of Virginia Beach, Va., and Pamela Paul and husband Kevin of Upper Marlboro, Md.; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; devoted cousins, Elva and Arnold Palmer; and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church, 104 Park Avenue in Bluefield with Bishop Clarence E. Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Park Cemetery in Princeton.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday.
