PRINCETON —
Dewey Edward Hammonds, 72, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born Feb. 16, 1940, at Princeton, he was the son of the late Jimmy Hammonds and Ida Belle Williams Hammonds. Mr. Hammonds was affiliated with the Rogers Street Community Church, Princeton, and enjoyed pocket watches and bicycles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosie Hammonds and his brother, James Roger Hammonds. Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Joyce Hammonds of Lindside; a cousin, Roger and Bernice Hammonds of Princeton; aunt and uncle, Mary and Roy Williams of Rural Retreat, Va.; several cousins, including special cousins, Tommy Hammonds of Princeton, Roger Hammonds Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, Jessie Hammonds of Princeton, Kathy Taylor of Princeton, and Shirley Spangler; two nephews; and a niece.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Gene Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Online condolence may be sent via www.memorialfd.com
