NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Ralph O. Parsons, age 89, of North Tazewell, Va., died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 in Perry, Ga. Born Dec. 17, 1922 at Wilbar in Wilkes County, N.C., he was a son of the late James Freeling Parsons and Gertrude Miller Parsons.
Mr. Parsons was a disabled U.S. Army veteran of WWII and had retired from Consolidation Coal Company after 44 years of dedicated service as a mining machinery mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Nadine Davis Parsons; 11 brothers and sisters; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
He is survived by one sister, Goldie L. Christian of Lakeland, Fla.; three sons, Randall O. Parsons and wife, Sherry of Warner Robins, Ga., Jerry L. Parsons of North Tazewell, Va., and Don E. Parsons and wife, Barbara of Princeton, W.Va.; six grandsons, Jimmy Parsons and wife, Joann of Pennington Gap, Va., Scott Parsons of Dry Fork, Va., Frankie Parsons and wife, Angie of Tazewell, Va., Mark Parsons and wife, Laccie of Macon, Ga., Michael Parsons and wife, Melissa of Byron, Ga., and Brian Parsons of Richmond, Va.; two great-grandsons; eight great-granddaughters; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Johnny Elmore officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
