NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Larry Douglas “Doug” Rasnake, age 78, of the Baptist Valley community in North Tazewell, Va., passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, Va. after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Sept. 3, 1934 at Hartwell, W.Va., he was a son of the late Ed and Elizabeth Rasnake.
He was a graduate of Richlands High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Ingersoll Rand and was currently employed with Motive Power.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Gary; one sister, Maxine Asbury.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Bonnie Rasnake; three granddaughters, Jamie Coleman of Buford, Ga., Jand Longona and husband, Art of Grove City, Ohio, and Joanne Faux and husband, Tom of Columbus, Ohio; grandson, Jeff Coleman and wife, Dawn of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Michael Rasnake and wife, Clara of Baptist Valley, Va.; eight great-grandsons, Evan, Eric, Troy, Travis, Chase, Cole, Spencer, and Mason; daughter-in-law, Dana Coleman of Las Vegas, Nev.; several nieces and nephews.
In honoring his wishes, a graveside service only will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 at Bandy Cemetery in Baptist Valley, Va. with the Reverend Billy Dean and the Reverend Adam Frye officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, nephews, and C.C. Brooks, Doc Duty, and Danny Ogle.
Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home of Tazewell, Va. is serving the Rasnake family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 230 Charwood Drive, Abingdon, VA 24210.
