Jason Patrick Jewell

PRINCETON — Jason Patrick Jewell, 49, of Herndon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 after losing a long battle with cancer. Born April 6, 1962 at Mullens, he was the son of William H. Jewell and Gladiola Sheets Jewell of Herndon.

The cancer took his body, but not one cell ever touched his soul. His soul is now looking over all his surviving family and friends with the love that he gave them on earth. Jason was owner and operator of Jewell's Logging in Herndon. He was a loyal member of the Bud Baptist Church and loved his church family. He and Hazel were baptized together at the church on March 13, 2011. He was a great witness for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ until the end.

Survivors include the love of his life, Hazel Reed Jewell of Herndon; one son, Larry James (Jamie) Morgan and his wife, Shelly Howerton Morgan of Herndon; one daughter, Christie Morgan Simmons and her husband, Chad of Herndon; five brothers, Alvin M. Jewell and his wife, Billie Jean of Herndon, Donald Jewell of Mullens, Jimmy Jewell and his wife, Kimberly of Lakeland, Fla., Terry Jewell and his wife, Joyce of Lakoma, Okla., and Ronnie Jewell and his wife, Gladys of Huntington; three sisters, Alma Marlene of Durham, N.C., Elaine and her husband, Hobert of Pineville, and Evelyn of Herndon. Jason also leaves behind his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Larry James (JR.) Morgan and Hannah Morgan and Cameron Simmons and McKenzie Simmons, all of Herndon; and many nieces and nephews along with many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at the Bud Baptist Church in Bud with the Reverend Tom Lusk officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be Emory Bishop, Gary Keaton, Johnny Griffith, Lenford Burrell, Joshua Perdue and Jared Moore.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to the cancer organization of your choice or to the Bowers Hospice House.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at the Bud Baptist Church in Bud.
