SHADY SPRING —
Princeton opened its new basketball season in the fast lane, scoring 10 unanswered points against Shady Spring Wednesday night and the Tigers never looked back to capturing a 76-56 win over the ‘other’ Tigers.
Princeton’s Kyle Caron had three first quarter 3s to help the Tigers of a 19-9 lead at the end of the period. Shady Spring all-state candidate Chase Conner fueled a brief rally and the home team cut Princeton’s lead to 7, at 29-22.
Princeton answered with three consecutive 3s over a 40-second span, the longest distance connections came from Ryan Rogers, Hunter Walters and Caron giving the Tigers a 38-22 lead with 3:00 left before intermission and Princeton was never challenged again.
Ryan Meadows led a balanced Princeton attack with 21 points. Caron added 16 and Walters scored 10. Caron made four of the Tigers’ nine 3s.
Conner led Shady Spring with 21. He had four of Shady’s five 3s. Jacob Buckland added 11 points in defeat.
Princeton, after a 10-day break, makes it home debut on Saturday, Dec. 15, against Mountain State Athletic Conference power South Charleston.
