BLUEFIELD, Va. —
The scoring seesaw tilted both ways Monday night at Graham Middle School, but the last surge belonged to Virginia High, which used a 16-4 fourth quarter to defeat the Graham G-Girls 46-30.
Graham led by one point at the end of the first period and trailed 24-16 at halftime, but the G-Girls outscored the Bearcats 10-6 in the third quarter to stay within striking distance at 30-26.
Karly Morgan had nine points and eight rebounds for Graham (8-7) and Bethany Evans provided 10 boards Liz Workman had six points and three steals.
Teonna Austin led the Bearcats with 19 points.
The G-Girls JV team won the preliminary game 56-5.
Graham, 2-2 in Mountain Empire District action, is at home Wednesday to play Tazewell. The varsity game begins at about 7:30 p.m.
