Hurricane strikes on course

TAZEWELL, Va. — Branson Bowman earned medalist honors as he led Marion past Graham, Richlands and Tazewell on the links Wednesday at Tazewell County Country Club.  

Marion fired a 150, led by Bowman’s one-under 35. Graham, which finished second with a 156, was paced by Ben Taylor with a 37, and a 38 from Morgan Brewster.

Richlands was a stroke behind Graham with a 157, led by Jimmy Bower (38) and Barrett Cunningham (39).

Colin Hancock led fourth place Tazewell (175) with a 37.

East in X/C meet

BECKLEY — Eric Lawson finished fifth in a cross country meet for PikeView at the Woodrow Wilson Invitational on Tuesday at New River Park.

Lawson finished the 5K meet (3.1 miles) in a time of 19:36. PikeView senior Chelsea East came in third for the girls with a time of 23:52.
