EAST RIVER —
Kali Furry and Morgan Whisman scored a goal apiece, as the Graham G-Girls opened the 2013 season with a 2-0 win over Floyd County on cold and wet Tuesday evening at the East River Soccer Complex.
Graham (1-0) played for the first time since finishing as Group A state runner-up last season in a loss to George Mason last June at Radford University.
Both goals by Furry and Whisman were unassisted. Karly Morgan was rarely challenged in goal.
Graham will host Giles on Friday at 5 p.m.
Graham’s baseball team was slated to open the season at Rural Retreat, but that game was postponed because of weather.
