The Concord men’s golf team leads the field after the first day of the WVIAC Championship. The Mountain Lions’ six-over par 294 is four shots better than Charleston after Sunday’s round on the par-72, 7,151-yard course at Glade Springs.
Concord golfers Nathaniel Begley and Stefan Labuschagne are tied with Cameron Buist of Davis & Elkins for the individual lead. All three shot a one-under 71 over 18 holes of golf.
Bluefield State, the WVIAC defending champion, is in fourth place with a 309, three shots behind third-place Davis & Elkins. The Big Blues’ Nick Dent is tied for fifth place among the individuals after a one-over 73 on Sunday.
Five golfers, including Concord’s Kevin Muscari and Matthew Morgan, are tied for ninth with scores of 76.
The teams are scheduled to hit the course this morning for the second and final round of competition.
