GALAX, Va. —
The Bland County Bears captured the Region C, Division 1 championship on Saturday night with a 58-49 win over Parry McCluer at Galax High School.
Chase Hankins and Darryl Clark both scored 23 points to lead the Bears, who rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat the Blues.
Bland County had come back from an 17-point hole to beat Auburn in the semifinals on Friday.
Asher Dillow added eight points for Bland County (14-10), which will play John I. Burton the Group A, Division 1 quarterfinals on Friday or Saturday at Salem Civic Center.
Clark hit four 3s for the Bears, while Hankins and Dillow had two apiece. Hankins was 11-for-14 from the free throw line. Bland County outscored Parry McCluer 26-13 in the final period and 42-24 in the second half.
Sam Armstrong paced Parry McCluer with 16 points. The Blues will play Region D champion Castlewood in the state quarterfinals later this week.
