BLUEFIELD —
Life just gets sweeter for the state champion Bluefield Beavers.
On their first day back at Bluefield High since their decisive Class AA state championship victory in Charleston, the boys basketball team and the rest of the student body was invited to the BHS cafeteria on Monday afternoon to eat cake together.
There was one additional surprise before the students munched down — the players received T-shirts proclaiming them champions.
The school also announced that the City of Bluefield has planned a victory celebration for next Tuesday starting at 4 p.m. at the Herb Sims Youth Center on Stadium Drive — where the team spent many hours practicing in the gym.
