Virginia Tech guard Malcolm Delaney has been named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, which recognizes college basketball's top point guard.
Delaney, a junior from Baltimore, Md., is currently the leading scorer in the Atlantic Coast Conference and was a pre-season All-ACC selection by the league's media association. He is the leading returning scorer in the ACC and leads the Hokies in scoring and assists this season.
West Virginia senior guard Da’Sean Butler has been selected as one of the 30 finalists for the John Wooden Award, which is given to the nation’s top college basketball player. Butler is averaging 16.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the 11-1 Mountaineers.
In other West Virginia news, wide receiver Alric Arnett has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 23, in Orlando, Fla. Arnett joins Mountaineers’ quarterback Jarrett Brown, who will also play in the 85th annual game, the longest running college football all-star game in existence. Arnett caught 43 passes, and scored three touchdowns this season.
