ELKINS — Sisters Jolysa and Sierra Brown combined for 50 points and 21 rebounds as Concord (3-0, 1-0) opened WVIAC play with a road 92-81 victory at Davis & Elkins (1-1, 0-1).
Jolysa poured in a career-best 32 points on 12 of 13 shooting. She was also a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul stripe. Sierra pitched in with 18 points and added 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Sydney Lindsey poured in 22 points before fouling out for the Lady Lions.
Camisha Alexander gave CU a fourth starter in double figures, finishing with 10 points.
Concord led 48-26 at intermission and stretched the lead to as many as 35 before a late barrage of D&E; three-pointers.
D&E; was led by freshman Shalisa Hill's 27 points. Lindsay Holliday connected on five three-pointers and finished with 17 points.
Concord plays to Alderson-Broaddus on Dec. 1.
Bluefield sweeps Virginia Intermont
BRISTOL, Va. — Bluefield College won a pair of Appalachian Athletic Conference basketball games Wednesday night against Virginia Intermont. The men’s team took down the Cobras 84-52 following the women’s 68-58 triumph.
Omar Reed led the Ramblin’ Rams with 17 points and eight rebounds in the men’s game with Carlton Shumake added 13 points and Edric Folden adding 10.
Wade Bryant led Virginia Intermont with 17 points.
The Lady Rams were led by Kia Gilliard’s 11 points as 15 different players saw time. Haley Odle led Virginia Intermont with 15 points, Priscilla Moseh added 13 and Ca’star Harper put in 10.
The wins make the men’s team 5-1 and 1-0 in the AAC and the women’s team 6-2 and 1-0 in the conference.
Both teams travel to Montreat College on Saturday for an AAC doubleheader.
