BRISTOL, Tenn. — The Bluefield men’s basketball team dropped an 80-56 decision at King College in an exhibition contest on Tuesday night.
Three players reached double figures for the Tornado, including Clarence Smith with 18 points and 10 rebounds. King led 45-27 at the break, hitting eight 3-pointers, while the Rams had just a total of nine field goals.
Bluefield (1-2), which travels to Campbellsville, Ky., for a two-day tournament beginning Friday, narrowed the second half margin to 14, but never got any closer.
Carlton Shumake led the Rams with 14 points, while Marcus Jackson tossed in 12.
Bluefield and King won’t play in the regular season. The Tornado is no longer in the AAC.
