HILLSVILLE, Va. — The Tazewell Bulldogs will play for the Southwest District volleyball tournament championship tonight by playing Carroll County on the Cavaliers’ home court.
Tazewell defeated Marion 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 18-25 15-12 on Wednesday night, and also qualified as the SWD second seed for next week’s Region IV play.
Natasha Blankenship led Tazewell with 30 digs and 14 assists, while Lindsey Scribner added 30 digs and 20 assists.
Cara Cecil had 12 kills, while Molly Altizer clubbed six.
Olivia Hart (10 service points), Rebecca Pike (12 digs, 9 points) and Natalie Parsons (10 points, 4 blocks) also contributed for the Bulldogs, which improved to 15-6 on the season.
Tazewell will play SWD regular season champion Carroll County tonight at 7:30 p.m. Marion and Richlands will play a consolation game at 4, with the winner also advancing to regional play.
The junior varsity championship game will be played at 6.
