OAK HILL — The PikeView Panthers are one step closer to a playoff berth.
After winning seven games from 2001-2008, the Panthers improved to 6-3 on Monday night with a 35-7 romp over Oak Hill in a game that was moved from Friday because of illness.
PikeView, which led 20-0 at the break and 35-0 before the Red Devils finally scored in the fourth quarter, was led by David Keen. All he did was record 12 tackles, four sacks, broke up four passes, and also added a safety and even scored a rushing touchdown on a nine-yard fourth quarter run.
Ben Nester added two touchdown passes of nine yards to Corey Clark and 22 to Joel Calfee, and also scored on a six-yard run of his own.
Clark recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown. Calfee also intercepted a pass, while Tyler Farley and Jake Patton each recovered fumbles for the PikeView defense.
Aaron Nash added three extra points for PikeView, which will complete its regular season on Friday by hosting Midland Trail at Concord University’s Callaghan Stadium.
PikeView, which entered this week ranked 12th in the WVSSAC Class AA ratings, could be in line for its first playoff berth this decade.
