NANTES, France — Will Frischkorn’s bike rides have taken him from his native West Virginia to his first Tour de France, where on Monday he finished second in the 129-mile leg of the world's highest-profile bicycle race, and was named Most Aggressive Rider for his breakaway start and daring sprint ahead of the pack.
Frischkorn, 27, grew up in the Charleston area. He now lives in Colorado and Spain and is riding for the Garmin-Chipotle team.
He’s in third place overall, 1 minute and 42 seconds back of Romain Feillu.
