Tincher no-hits U.S. National Team

The Virginia Tech softball team, behind a no-hit performance from Angela Tincher, defeated the U.S. National Softball Team, 1-0, Wednesday night in an exhibition game in Oklahoma City, ending the national team’s 185-game non-Olympic win streak. It was the first time the U.S. team lost since May 3, 1996. During that span, the U.S. team outscored opponents 1,475-24. The Hokies scored their only run in the second inning off Jennie Finch, one of 12 players on the U.S. squad that won gold at the 2004 Athens Games. Virginia Tech sophomore Whitney Davis, a product of Tazewell High School, started in right field for the Hokies.
